Construction

As previously mentioned, the American Standard Champion 4 is constructed of vitreous china. An EverClean surface is included in the design to keep out the growth of harmful bacteria, as well as mold and mildew. The Champion 4 has a structure that incorporates a cistern and one-piece toilet together. The advanced EverClean cuts down on the amount of cleaning required.

The bowl rim measures 16 ½” high. The Champion 4 is ADA compliant due to the the elongated bowl, flush mechanism with a lever, and seat height.

Flushing System

American Standard’s powerful single flush is included with the Champion 4, performing an effective 1.6-gallon flush with a 4” non-adjustable piston. An accelerator flush valve also functions to increase flushing power. To efficiently clear the bowl of waste, this toilet features a 2 ⅜” fully glazed trapway. In just one flush, this toilet can remove 2.2 pounds of waste, as proven by a series of tests.

Cleaning Process

Thanks to the powerful flush system and the smooth EverClean bowl surface, the Champion 4 completely clears out waste with just one flush. The bowl is also less likely to develop stains because of the reduced growth of microbes, bacteria, and mildew.

Water Usage

This toilet uses 1.6 gallons of water with each flush. This water consumption meets the Federal toilet flush requirements, but doesn’t comply with EPA WaterSense guidelines. This means that the Champion 4 won’t be eligible for WaterSense rebates.

Installation

This toilet is a one-piece toilet, meaning that you’ll have to deal with more weight than you would while installing a two-piece toilet. Due to the greater weight, it’s more of a hassle to place the toilet over the rough out; it’s a good idea to install this toilet with another person to help. It’s built to fit at least a 12” rough-in, and with two people, the installation is uncomplicated. All you have to do is lock it to the ground, connect the water supply, and attach the seat.
